Standing (kamae)

Actors maintain the fundamental standing posture whenever they are standing still, with bent knees, a straight back, and a pulled-up chin. The Standing Feminine position differs from the Martial one because the arms are closer to the body and the feet closer together. This posture allows for maximum balance when wearing a mask that limits one’s vision, an important consideration since most shite roles use a mask.
