Feather Fan (hane ōgi)

The focus of this pattern is a broad sweeping of the extended fan in an arc from the right arm to the left of the body. Often, the dancer is moving as he performs this pattern.

The poetic name of this pattern comes from the flapping of the fan and the swishing sound of the sleeves, reminiscent of a bird’s plumage fluttering in the wind.
